To ensure the bond settles and nail wraps stay put for as long as they can, it's best to be applying them in the evening before bed when you are no longer planning to do any washing or cleaning. Also, try to avoid applying any hand cream or cuticle oil the first evening of application as this can affect the bond. So, make yourself a cuppa, forget about any housework for the evening and pamper yourself to great looking nails. You are welcome!
Start with a basic manicure to clean up your nails, file them to your desired shape and length. Most importantly push back all the cuticles so that your nails are clean. I personally also prefer to very lightly buff the surface of my nail to remove any bumps and ridges, but this is not completely necessary, all depends on your nail chemistry (mine don't let anything stick to them, unless buffed a bit).
Clean your nails to remove any excess oil (which occurs naturally) - this can be done either with a bit of nail varnish remover (doesn't have to contain acetone) or simply washing your hands with washing up liquid or using alcohol wipes. Then get your hands and nails dry and you are ready to apply wraps.
Choose the size that you think will fit each nail best, you don't want the wraps to go over cuticle or skin, but sit nicely only on the nail. Once you've chosen the size, remove the clear film that covers each wrap, then remove the wrap from the base. Starting with the nail bed by cuticle, align the wrap and smooth it down. Once it's in place, using your finger tip, keep rubbing the nail wrap firmly onto the nail to ensure it's stuck on all over the nail fully.
Once you are happy with it being stuck on, gently using a nail file, file off the excess wrap. Please only file downwards so not to lift the wrap off the nail. Or you can use little cuticle scissors to cut the excess off and then file off any imperfections.
That's it, your wrap is now applied. Now all that's needed is a top coat (clear varnish top coat). When choosing the top coat, please avoid the quick drying ones or the matt finish ones as these can affect the wrap. My own favourite one is Sally Hansen top coat.
If you want to, you can apply gel on top - in this case you will need to apply base coat over the wrap and then top coat. Removal process will still be the same as without these.
With SCG's the basic application process is the same as with classic wraps, difference being that they need to be cured under UV/LED light.
As SCG's are thicker than classic wraps, you might find it easier to use nail scissors to cut off any excess wrap instead of filing it. Once you have carefully cut off the excess, cure the nails under UV/LED light as directed on the packaging. Then, once cured, file off any bits that might still need it.
With SCG wraps you don't need any top coat, but if you wish them to be thicker, absolutely fine to apply one.
Once the wraps are applied, please do make sure you don't have any air pockets underneath. If any start to peal back anywhere at all, please remove them. This is so that no water gets underneath the wrap and gets trapped there for the length of wearing the wrap. If this happens, there is a potential for bacteria to grow and this is something we want to avoid.
We don't recommend wearing wraps for longer than 14 days at a time.
Removal process is fairly simple, you can either use nail varnish remover or oil (cuticle oil, baby oil or coconut oil) and you will need your cuticle pusher (hoof stick).
If you are choosing to use nail varnish remover - simply apply some nail varnish remover onto a cotton pad and let that sit on the nail for a little bit. It only takes a couple of seconds, then using the cuticle pusher, gently start lifting the wrap off from the side of the nail.
Oil method is very similar, warm oil works best. Rub the oil over the nails and using cuticle pusher gently start lifting the wrap from the side and keep getting the oil underneath the wrap so that it breaks the bond. The secret here is getting the oil right under the wrap as the oil breaks down the glue.
Please be patient with this process and don't peel them off even if they are peeling easily as it can damage your nail. Do it slowly sliding the cuticle pusher underneath and it will come off. If there is any residue left on your nails, simply wipe it off or wash your hands and you are ready for either your next set or letting your nails be free, whichever you choose.
